Описание к видео RDI autism intervention | Spotlighting Emotions

Video reflection questions:

Has Samara ever tried this activity before? (Or engaged with this materials before?)

No

What pattern did you establish?

I was naming the existing pattern and then needed Samara's help to complete the color pattern in the activity book. I was still asking questions concerning the color we needed but more as a declaration with an inflection of questioning in my voice rather than asking her what color came next. "I need the next color", "yellow?" "Hmm I need the yellow pen?"

Where did you insert moment/s of productive uncertainty within your pattern?
I couldn't find the pens I needed to complete the pattern. This also gave me an opportunity to show some different emotions, albeit a bit comical.

I also tried hiding my drawing, thinking she would be interested but that didn't quite get the response I expected. I used this as an opportunity to show boredom however she interpreted this as me sleeping and she was trying to wake me with rooster and alarm noises.

After we drew the alligators teeth she was anticipating the chomps of the alligator coming after her. Unfortunately, she was so busy she kept going off camera so you couldn't see all her responses but she was watching me intently. "Mom cam" should be here soon. ;)

What do you feel was the best part of the engagement?

Samara did come acknowledge my change in mood/expression even though she interpreted it wrong and thought I was tired/sleeping. This may have been my fault because I was leaning on my arm vs just sighing?
She also talked about "sharing" a bit which was cool even though that's not a part of our goals here.

What adjustments would you make to your guiding in your next engagement based on the information you gained from this guided engagement?

What questions do you have for me?

Samara had a very busy body this day. Even with no Ipad or tv distractions she was just circling and pacing and dancing around and talking to her hands and singing. So if I start an engagement and this is happening should I just abandon it and try on a better day? I tried to use her behavior to take advantage of showing more emotional states, like my boredom at waiting for her to be interested in "my secret". I also wasn't sure if I did that for too long and maybe should have abandoned the idea when she didn't respond right away.

"RDI® is a significant departure from traditional ASD interventions, and does not simply seek to mask the condition with scripted conversations or rehearsed behaviors. Our model allows for neuro-cognitive changes to occur over time that provide the individual with the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges on their own. By developing this capacity for dynamic thinking, we open the door to the possibility of a greater quality of life that includes: reciprocal communication, genuine friendships, confident, independent living, prolonged relationships and meaningful employment"
