This is such a smart initiative — instead of just announcing a winner, it gives the nominees a real chance to pitch themselves to the audience, show their artistry, and make the case for why they belong here. And honestly? This year’s group absolutely showed up. Everyone brought their A-game, which made the category feel even more exciting and competitive.

My personal standout performances came from Olivia Dean, Leon Thomas, and Lola Young, but I also have to give credit where it’s due — Sombr and KATSEYE both surprised me in the best way.

And to top it all off, I’m so glad Olivia Dean took the award home. After that performance, it felt completely earned.
