As the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage through the world, the aviation industry is nothing but a disaster in itself. More than 90% of all flights have been cancelled, and many airports that once had thriving international flights now have none. Philadelphia International Airport fits under the international category, as it was not selected as a gateway point for international flights. Therefore, all European flights to PHL are cancelled. This trip to PHL during the pandemic was to catch the first arrival of a British Airways Airbus A350-1000XWB to the airport, an event that should have taken place in late March 2020. The flight operated under the normal BAW67 flight that typically comes in around 3-4 pm, but this was a cargo only flight.

Runway usage was wide all day, we started out on the 9s and switched to the 27s with 17 arrivals and finally the normal arrive 27R and depart 27L configuration. Many of the arrivals in the video were from the 4-5 pm hour and arrived on 27L. We even had a C-130 from Delaware come in for a low approach, which has been commonplace for local units during the pandemic. Due to the lower than normal ops at the major airports, C-5s, C-130s, KC-10s, KC-135s, and C-17s in the area have utilized PHL, EWR, LGA, and JFK for pattern work.
