The Peugeot 3008 has come a long way from its humble beginnings as an awkward, frumpy crossover. For its latest generation, the 3008 has transformed into a sleek, coupe-inspired SUV with an overhauled interior and electrified powertrain. While not as advanced as the all-electric E-3008, this hybrid variant makes a solid case as an upscale yet relatively affordable SUV option.

Stylish Inside And Out
The 3008's dramatic exterior styling is a breath of fresh air in the often staid world of family SUVs. With its raked roofline, sculpted bodywork, and Peugeot's distinctive LED lighting signatures, the 3008 exudes a premium presence that punches above its price point. The interior pushes even further upmarket with its avant-garde design highlighted by a massive 21.0-inch curved display that dominates the dashboard.

With just 156 combined horsepower, acceleration is far from scintillating, though fuel economy should be reasonably frugal. The hybrid system allows for brief periods of all-electric driving at low speeds, but the 3008 Hybrid can't match a plug-in hybrid's extended EV range.

The hybrid powertrain is certainly a step in the right direction for efficiency, but buyers seeking maximum range and performance will want to look at the fully-electric E-3008 instead. With 210 hp and a pure EV driving range, the E-3008 is the more compelling choice for eco-minded buyers, provided they can stomach its roughly £10,000 premium over the regular hybrid.

Value Play Among Premium Alternatives
With a starting price around £32,500, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid undercuts many of its premium-badged rivals like the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA while offering more upscale trappings than mainstream alternatives like the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. However, it is on the pricier end among non-luxury compact SUVs.

For buyers willing to pay a bit more for French flair and a cutting-edge interior, the 3008 fits the bill as a sharp-styled and well-equipped crossover. But those simply seeking pragmatic family transportation may find the Hyundai Tucson or Volkswagen Tiguan to be more sensible picks. Regardless of which compact SUV you choose, the rejuvenated 3008 proves Peugeot is capable of designing vehicles with genuine crossover appeal.
