Surrey & Sussex police RPU - Roads Policing Unit can be seen here escorting the last of three abnormal load convoys to Woking Community Hospital for a new development of a MRI department, in this video you see the convoy of a MRI machine & CT Scanner. One convoy made its way down from Northumberland & one from Ashford Hospital meeting at Fleet Services on Friday evening. The convoy which needed a police escort due to the loads extended widths, then made their way down the A331 on to the A31 and then proceeding along the A3 to Ripley where it turned back towards Guildford on the A3 coming off at the Stoke Junction and travelling along the A320 to its final location of Woking Community Hospital. The load travelled through part of Guildford before finishing in Woking causing areas of traffic disruption between the two Surrey towns.

As with the previous two convoys, due to the widths of the loads, multiple signs had to be removed from the ground and islands to assist the convoy proceed down the final road and into the Hospital.

The Surrey & Sussex police, Roads Policing Unit (RPU) used a collection of different vehicles to carry out this escort and convoy, including a Volvo XC90 leading the convoy, and two rear cars consisting of a BMW 530d & Volvo V90 helping to hold back traffic, joining them was also four BMW police bikes which were used to go ahead of the main convoy to shut roads and clear traffic allowing for a swift move between the two towns.
