Gene Davitt and her aviator father, Jim, frequently visit her ailing grandfather. On two separate days, both father and daughter are faced with emotional turmoil amidst their affections toward the old man. Through stories of free-flight, dinner preparations, housekeeping, and unspoken tension, young Gene finds both what is expected of her, and who she wants to become.
