Photographing Girls' Volleyball with the RF 70-200mm f2.8

Yes, it is me, the non-sports photographer once again trying my hand at sports photography. I wanted to see a couple of things. OK, three if I'm honest. First, how does the RF 70-200mm feel using it for fast-paced sports photography. Second, how will the EOS R hold up. And third, will any of this be worth looking at.

So, here are the answers.

The RF 70-200mm handled itself quite well. It might have been a bit too much lens for being so close-up to the game. My friend, Phil Thatch, recommended the 28-70 f2, and that might have been a better lens for this event. But it was as much about testing out this lens as it was about sports photography.

The EOS R is not a fast-paced sports photography camera. The high-speed shutter speeds are just not high-speed enough. I want to say it is about 10 frames per second, and you need something faster than that to really get the action. I did finally figure out a focus style that worked for me, but I'm not convinced it is the right one yet. Your suggestions in the comments would be greatly appreciated.
