Описание к видео Video: Yell County District 1 Fire Departments fight structure fire and wild land fire on Mt. Nebo

Firefighters with several Yell County fire departments responded to a structure fire that ignited a wild land fire on Mt. Nebo on Thursday evening, May 25th. Firefighters remained on scene working to extinguish the fires for about two hours.
At 6:21 p.m., Thursday, Yell County Fire Control dispatchers dispatched Yell County District 1 fire departments to a reported structure fire that had ignited a grass fire at residence on Mt. Nebo Road.
Firefighters with the Dardanelle Rural, Dardanelle City, Chickalah and Mt. Nebo Fire Departments were requested to respond to the fires that had ignited on a resident’s property located approximately a half mile up on Mt. Nebo.
As firefighters responded, the dispatcher advised that the caller reported a shed on the property was fully involved and the grass and woods in the area had also ignited. The caller also advised that the structure that was involved contained lumber and the fire was quickly spreading.
Upon the arrival of firefighters, they made a fast attack on a shed where the fire was believed to have originated and it was quickly extinguished. Through the use of brush trucks and hand lines, firefighters began working to extinguish the grassy areas surrounding the shed, attempting to prevent its spread. Due to the progress of the fire, firefighters entered the wooded area on the property and began working to put out the fire as it trailed down the side of the mountain.
Firefighters made significant progress in extinguishing the wild land fire but due the steep conditions and their limited access to many areas along the wooded and rocky terrain, firefighters requested the response of the Arkansas Forestry Service fire plow.
As the fire plow checked en route to the location, firefighters continued their efforts in fighting the fire by using backpack leaf blowers. The gas powered blowers allowed firefighters to move through the steep, heavily wooded terrain quicker as they cleared paths to begin creating a fire line to assist in extinguishing the fire.
Tankers were staged at the base of Mt. Nebo near the entrance of the Ox Pull Trail and provided the water needed in fire fight. In order to establish a water supply for the fight, firefighters set up a portable pond at the location where fire apparatuses were able to draft water from the pond in order to replenish their water supply.
Just before 8 p.m. Thursday night, officials with the Arkansas Forestry Service along with the fire plow arrived on scene. A short time later, at approximately 8:30 p.m., firefighters were released from the call and returned to their stations available for service.
During the incident, firefighters were able to save a small building and its contents that was located next to the shed where the fire originated.
The cause of the fire was believed to be due to the wind after the property owner had burned brush earlier in the day and had left the property. No injuries were reported by firefighters.
