he family of former U.S. Rep. John “Pat” Williams of Montana announced Williams died Wednesday at the age of 87.

Williams was the longest serving congressman in Montana history.

A Butte native, Williams served in the Montana Legislature before being elected to the U.S. House, where he served 18 years from 1979 to 1997.
