Valheim — Call to Arms (PTB) deep dive: trinkets, new combat mechanics, enemies and what this means for your playthroughs. Patch live on PTB: Aug 20, 2025!

The Call to Arms update just hit Valheim’s Public Test Realm — and it’s bringing some of the biggest Valheim changes we’ve seen in a long time! I test trinkets, adrenaline mechanics, combat changes (perfect dodge, stamina tweaks), new enemies and weapons — and share my impressions for how this will impact builds and fights.

This is truly a Valheim update - not just a patch - and the implications it might have on our gameplay are unpredictable (giving us the opportunity for "builds" instead just chosen weapons and armor). More on this channel soon!

PTR-JOIN-QUICK-GUIDE (PC/STEAM):
How to join the ptr without risking your save:
📁 *First:* Back up your data. Your saves live at: %UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\ Copy the worlds and characters folders somewhere safe.
🛠️ *Then in Steam:* Right-click Valheim → Properties → Betas → enter the code given to you in the patch notes - yesimadebackups Then select *Public Test* from the dropdown. Let it update, and you’re in!
You’ll know it worked if your main menu says **Public Test**. 🔁 To go back to the previous version: just select “None” in that same dropdown and, if needed, restore your backup. 💬 Sorry Xbox and Mac players — I don’t want to give you second-hand info, so I won’t. Please check the official Valheim channels for platform-specific steps.
