Sören Sieg: Sula inyembezi. Performed by Matilda Zidkova and Sören Sieg.

I wrote Sula inyembezi in 2016 as the second movement of my African Suite No. 8 Injabulo (Happiness), commissioned by Anna Rheingans, Iris Höfling and Tomoyo Ueda for their concert programme called AFRICA. But I liked the smooth melody and simplicity of the groove so much that I re-wrote it for recorder and piano for my collection "KARUNGI, ten easy pieces for soprano or tenor recorder and piano."

I would like to thank Matilda Zidkova for performing it so wonderfully on my House Concert No. 30 in March 2023, and her father Jan for bringing her all the way from Czech Republic. I very much hope, the two of you will visit us again in Warsaw! As you can hear, the audience was enthusiastic about Matilda's performance.

Matilda Zidkova is a highschool student from the Czech republic. Her biggest hobbies are doing parkour, hiking, solving a mathematical correspondence seminar, listening to music and playing the recorder. Matilda has been studying the recorder at a music school for 10 years now.
