Jussi Björling & Enrico Caruso: lovesong "Because" (Parce que) by Guy d'Hardelot

Описание к видео Jussi Björling & Enrico Caruso: lovesong "Because" (Parce que) by Guy d'Hardelot

Two spectacular performances. Jussi in flawless, soaring lyrical voice and Caruso with tear-persing empathy.

Lyrics by Edward Frederick Lockton (using the alias "Edward Teschemacher"), music composed by Helen Rhodes (pen name "Guy d'Hardelot") in 1902.

Jussi recorded the song in English. The Caruso recording is from Saturday 7. December 1912 (original French text).

Mario Lanza also made a great recording of this (from the film "The Great Caruso"). Hear it here:    • Видео

English:

Because you came to me with naught but love,
and hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
A wider world of hope and joy I see.
Because you come to me.

Because you speak to me in accents sweet,
I find the roses waking 'round my feet.
And I am led through tears and joy to thee.

Because God made thee mine I'll cherish thee,
through light and darkness, through all time to be.
And pray His love may make our love divine.
Because God made thee mine!
