This video is a recording of the first joint meeting between Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and the University of Johannesburg, part of their Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program. This virtual student exchange program enables students from both universities to collaborate on projects, share knowledge and expertise, and develop intercultural competencies.
The aim of this particular project is to reduce waste in construction projects by implementing lean principles. Students from NTU will work alongside their counterparts from the University of Johannesburg to identify and address inefficiencies in the construction process, from design to delivery. By collaborating across borders, the students will gain a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable construction practices in different regions and contexts.
Through this project, the students will develop a range of skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They will also gain valuable experience in project management, sustainability, and cross-cultural communication. By working together, the students will not only advance their own learning but also contribute to a more sustainable and efficient construction industry.
