• 9:23 to 13:05 = how to remove crankshaft pulley; list of tools to hold crank pulley;
• 13:06 to 15:00 = showing of tensioner pulley’s, tools needed to remove;
• 15:01 to 15:38 = alternator and power steering belt numbers;
• 15:39 to 17:42 = old front crankshaft oil seal (Suzuki Part No. 09283-45012); tips on installing new seal; NOTE: always have an extra seal on hand just in case;
• 17:43 to 18:33 = torque values and deflection of belt specification (listed at bottom);
• 18:34 to 18:58 = take your time in installing the new seal, clean everything up;
• 19:00 to 20:21 = timing cover plug, replace that if it is leaking!!! Suzuki Part No. 11215-67D00; do not condemn the crank seal without diagnosis, good idea to replace both crank seal and plug cover if you are in their anyway;
• 20:22 to 21:43 = clean the crank pulley where the seal rides, make sure there are no burrs, grooves, wear or else the new seal will leak! You can use fine sand paper (600 grit) to clean the surface area where the seal rides on the pulley, coat with a light coat of oil or grease before installing;
• 21:46 to 22:35 = my correction on where the side marker/clearance bulb is for replacement;
• 22:40 to 30:40 = showing of everything together, how to use the Gates pulley holder to hold the crankshaft pulley while you torque the crank bolt to spec, can use a piece of 2X4 against the bottom of the alternator pulley to assist in holding the pulley holder tool; also, I recommend you use a light coat of Permatex Optimum Max Flex black silicone RTV silicone on the plug cover to prevent possible future leaks;

Torque Values:
front crankshaft pulley bolt: 108.5 foot pounds;
alternator tension & tension-pulley-adjusting bolts and
power steering tension & and
tension-pulley-adjusting bolts: 18 foot pounds;
wheel lug nuts: 80 foot pounds;
deflection of P/S belt: 0.25 inches maximum between P/S and A/C pulleys;
deflection of Alt belt: 0.35 – 0.39 inches maximum between alt and water pump pulleys;

OE Suzuki Part numbers:
• 09283-45012 front crankshaft oil seal;
• 11215-67D00 front timing cover plug;

List of Tools:
• Gates 910131 v-belt pulley holder tool (available at RockAuto);
• OTC Stinger pulley holder 4754 (available at Amazon);

Description:

This is a talk-only video on tricks and tips on replacing the front crank shaft oil seal on a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L, 2.7 V6 petrol engine.

I did not show the actual repairs itself, being by myself with only my camera phone really gave me no other option, however, I hope I was able to help some Suzuki Grand Vitara owners.
