Life after EPS and RFA (Electrophysiology Study and Radiofrequency Ablation)

EPS and RF are types of invasive surgical procedures to treat certain types of arrhythmias. Both these procedures can be conducted at the same time. The total recovery time is 7 days.

Some patients can go home at the end of the day, while others will need to stay overnight. Patient must have a responsible adult to take you home afterward.

Walk to prevent blood clots.

Do not wear jewelry or watches for the first few days.

Liquid diet is recommended for 24 hours after your procedure.

Patients can shower on the second day of the procedure.

Dressing or bandages can be removed on the second day.

Light activities, such as cooking and household chores, are allowed after 4 to 5 days.

You can return to work in 6 to 7 days, as long as it does not involve heavy lifting.

You can start driving after 10 days.

Limit heavy lifting or strenuous activities for more than 10 days.
