Rep. John Mica's (FL-07) work to rein in out-of-control TSA continued as the House of Representatives considered the Department of Homeland Security funding bill for the upcoming year. Mica successfully included an amendment to the bill to slash TSA Administration costs by over $31 million while backing further implementation of cost-effective private sector screening.

By pushing TSA to get out of the screening business, Mica's amendment directs TSA to better preform the functions it was created to do, specifically pinpointing threats, collecting intelligence and connecting the dots to prevent future terrorist attacks.

Unfortunately, TSA has bloated to unfathomable proportions in the 10 years since its establishment. Currently that agency employs over 51,000 screeners across approximately 450 airports and approximately 15,000 highly-paid bureaucrats.
