How to Tie A Munter Mule Overhand Knot

Описание к видео How to Tie A Munter Mule Overhand Knot

Here is a demonstration on how to tie the Munter Mule Overhand Knot. This knot is useful in any situation were you want to create a fixed line that is releasable while the line is fully loaded. In guiding context, we use the munter mule overhand to fix lines for rappelling while someone is learning how to rappel. Our rappel system in this scenario includes a single strand fixed line for rappelling (fixed with a munter mule overhand) and a belay line going to the rappelling person. If someone learning how to rappel has difficulty with an object (shirt, hair, necklace) becoming stuck in their rappel device, we can fix their belay line to the master point with a munter mule overhand knot and unfix the rappel line (by removing the mule and overhand knots) and then send some slack down the fixed rappel line to the person having difficulty. This process achieves transferring the load away from the rappel line and into the belay line and allows us to send slack down the fixed rappel line. The belay for a belayed rappel system is best achieved with a munter hitch because the munter hitch to allow us to fix the belay line when needed with the mule and overhand knots.
