"How Do You Live With Tourette's" Short Documentary Tourette Association

A compassionate 15-year-old Olivia interviews 5 other children — Bradley, Ethan, Jessie, Max and Nicky — as they can all relate to being diagnosed with the misunderstood neurobiological disorder called Tourette Syndrome. They talk candidly about their struggles, the anguish of being “different,” receiving the diagnosis and their often embarrassing symptoms and tics caused by this life-tormenting condition. They discuss their experiences being bullied because of their uncontrollable movements and sounds, the stigma of having the disorder, and their desire to just fit in at school. Olivia asks them what their future holds, and what they hope will change when they reach adulthood. Produced by the Tourette Association and the Matlin family, this short documentary has been featured at film festivals and has been shown at numerous Tourette Association events since it was filmed in 2011.
