Danny Estrin, the lead singer of Australian band Voyager, has been diagnosed with cancer requiring immediate treatment on the eve of his band’s European tour.

The progressive-metal pop band, which this year made it to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest and finished ninth, will cancel the tour capitalising on its popularity following its explosive Eurovision performances this year as Estrin prepares for surgery.“I am absolutely devastated that we cannot perform on our forthcoming European tour, especially after this incredible Eurovision year we’ve had,” Estrin, 41, said on social media.

“I am on strict doctors’ orders to not take this lightly, put my health first and get this sorted so we can be on stage again as soon as possible.”

The band from Perth will reschedule the tour for October 2024, and will perform its last show before treatment begins at an America’s Cup anniversary event in Fremantle on Sunday.
