In this first episode, we begin our canoe trip down the Mississippi River by putting in at Lake Itasca State Park in northern Minnesota, USA. With only about 3700 km (2300 miles) to our destination, the Gulf of Mexico, and winter right around the corner, we've got to move fast!

Between losing half our water supply in the first 5 minutes, low water levels and lots of fallen trees, we're starting to think this might be a bit more difficult than expected...
