Using ML Ops to drive real world impact

Speaker: Dr Anton Lord, Leap In!

Abstract: In recent years there has been a massive uptake of artificial intelligence in industry. Impacts of this are seen in many aspects of our lives, from security measures implemented by banks to assisting with decision making in healthcare as well as more traditional recommender systems. However around 90% of models developed for industry never make it to production. In this talk I will discuss the current best practice of machine learning operations and provide recommendations on how to implement AI into business critical tasks while minimising the risk of adverse outcomes.

About the speaker: Dr Anton Lord obtained his PhD in 2015 from The University of Queensland. His research has focused on using medical data to predict aspects of health and disease using clinical and biological data. He has since moved to industry where he works as the lead data scientist at “Leap In!”, a local not for profit assisting people with disabilities. He also works as a consultant to a range of clients from local start-up companies developing diagnostic tests to the World Health Organization.
