Casevac - Ondangwa 1988

Описание к видео Casevac - Ondangwa 1988

This video clip was filmed on 28 June 1988, by a South African Air Force film crew, just north of Air Force Base Ondangwa, South West Africa (Namibia), a day after the epic battle at Calueque.

It was part of a documentary on the Angolan Border War, showing a typical casevac (casualty evacuation) in a Puma helicopter.

The troops on the ground and on the helicopter were from 1 Parachute Battalion, South African Army. Lt Wilson is seen throwing the green smoke grenade, to signal the chopper where to land and that it was safe to do so. Next to him is his Parabat medic, who would have rescued and treated the patient in that crucial "golden hour."
The two chopper medics were Steve Addison & Johan Vermaak.
