At the start of the pandemic I wanted to record a series of interviews with successful professionals in the entertainment industry, asking their advice for students whose drama/dance/music school plans were put on delay, and to ask their thoughts for older artists who haven’t had the ‘big break’. This interview is with Jeremy Kagan, an Emmy-winning director whose work includes the West Wing, The Chosen, Conspiracy: Trial of the Chicago 8, The Journey of Natty Gann, Shot, and many more movies.

This is a personal and deeper conversation, and Jeremy explains why it is so important for an artist to keep creating and not be attached to the fruits of their labour, how to continue your process of being a creative person, and how to navigate the difficult situation of not being professionally recognized for your art when you want the recognition. He also tells some wonderful stories from his long career.

Jeremy is a professor of film at the prestigious University of Southern California (USC) @uscfilm , and 2021 saw the release of the third book in his series "Directors Close Up: Interviews with Directors Nominated for Best Film by The Directors Guild of America". I hope you enjoy the interview!
