Lily and James were together, but Lily broke up with James because she knew that James was in love with Y/n

-After Y/n and James became Gf and BFs....

-Lily wanted Y/n and James to be happy, not ruin it so...

-She asked Y/n a favour:

Lily: Y/n.
Y/n: hm?
Lily: I have a small favour
Y/n: yeah anything
Lily: Before I give birth, can we and James, just you know....
Y/n: Lily, is that even a question? I understand, so yes, you may. But you have to ask James too though.
Lily: I’m much obliged.

-James never agreed, but Y/n forced him, so he didn’t have a choice. Y/n wanted them to be a happy family. Not that Lily and James were married (in this series, Jily are not married), but she wanted Harry to have a complete family.

-Lily made a promise that she would never ruin their relationship, and she fulfilled that promise.
