Andreas O Kruse, MD has trained as a psychiatry resident for 1 year in the US at UNMH and 3 years in Stockholm, Sweden. Has partaken in psychiatric research on social cognition in Schizophrenia as a visiting scholar at UCLA.

Jose Canaca, MD is a General psychiatrist and assistant professor in the University of New Mexico, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Canaca completed his training in psychiatry at the University of New Mexico, school of medicine. He is the Associate Training Director for the Psychiatry Rural Program. His areas of interest are rural communities and underserved populations.

1. Summarize the implementation of behavioral health and health care in a demographic with resources similar to those of New Mexico. 2. Analyze a medico-legal approach to behavioral health care for serious mental illness and substance abuse. 3. Analyze how a medico-legal approach to health care might impact practice in NM especially in regards to ethical considerations from a patient autonomy point of view.
