God Above, Before, & Descending (Psalm 68:1-19)

Title: God Above, Before, & Descending
Text: Psalm 68:1-19 (see also Eph 4:7-13)
Key Idea: The Psalm describes God’s locations and how each blesses His people.

Point 1) God Above (vv.1-6)
-Where: “God arise” and “Cloud Rider” (vv.1-4)
-What: Scatter enemies (v. 2, 6) and Meets Needs (vv.5-6)

Point 2) God Who Goes Before (vv.7-14)
-Where: God who goes before (vv. 7-8; Exodus 13:21)
-What: He prepares the way and new home (vv.9-14)
-Jesus is the firstborn and most important. Yet also first because He goes before us to prepare the way of salvation (Rom 8:29, Col 1:15)

Point 3) God Who Descends (vv.15-19)
-Where: God meets us at the humble place (vv.15-17) and comes down (v.18)
-What: Jesus descends to defeat the enemy, meet the needs of salvation, and give each believer powerful grace (v.18-19, Eph 4:7-13)
