The King Abdulaziz Foundation (DARAH) recently launched “Syriac Sources for the History and Civilization of the Arabs and Arabia” (SSHCAA) with the aim of providing a qualitative contribution to historical sources of Arabic civilization in the Arabian Peninsula. Because DARAH is keen on producing work of high standards, it has decided to delegate supervision of this project to a scholarly team that is composed of a number of researchers and specialists in Syriac literature and the ancient and Islamic history of Arabia. The team has been drawn from different scholarly disciplines in order to create a database that is not limited to texts translated into Arabic, but also goes beyond that to study and provide these texts in the original Syriac language alongside Western translations.

Dr Ibn Nahee is a Saudi Academic and Historian who received his Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Birmingham and is currently Associate Professor of History at Najran University and the supervisor of SSHCAA at DARAH in KSA. He is a specialist in the history of the Middle East with interests in early Islamic history, minorities in Islam and interfaith relations with a special focus on Muslim-Christian relations.
