Day 9

As I journeyed through the Dark World, I came across a small clearing. In the middle of it was a tree stump. A creature was resting on it. He seemed sad. I went to see if he was well. He said that he used to play the flute in the Light World. The animals would gather to hear him play.
The influence of the Dark World has slowly been killing him. He asked me to find his flute so he can hear it one last time. I used the mirror to go back to the Light World. That's when I heard a strange song play. A ghost of a young boy playing a flute was on the tree stump in the clearing. He saw me and pointed to a group of flowers.
Resting on the grass in the middle of the flowers was a little blue flute. I wasn't sure how to play, but it was as if the flute itself made me play the notes. I went back to the Dark World and played the song for the boy. He told me to find his father in Kakariko Village and to play the song for him. With that, he solidified into a tree. I feel terrible for him.
I obeyed his last wish and met with his father at Kakariko. Pyrd was his father. It was difficult to tell him of his son's fate, but he had to know. Pyrd was glad to hear the flute once again. He told me to play it for the bird in the center of town.
I wasn't sure what good it would do to play the flute to the statue in the center of the village, but I did it. The strangest thing happened. The bird broke out of the stone and flew around. Something in its demeanor told me to call on it with the flute. I wasn't sure what good it would do, but the bird seems stronger than he looks.
