Throughout the Holy Scriptures, we find two types of sorrows displayed. Godly sorrow, which places emphasis upon the wrongs that we have committed against the Lord, and worldly sorrow, which is only concerned with making our feelings of guilt and remorse go away. We as followers of Jesus, should always seek out Godly sorrow, when concerning wrongs that we commit, so that lasting repentance can occur. In Matthew chapter 26 and 27, we see two examples of sorrow. Peter displays sorrow because he has denied his Lord, this is Godly sorrow. Judas, displays sorrow because of his own personal guilt, this is worldly sorrow.

Remember, you will only find true and lasting repentance through Godly sorrow. I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." That's the key. Confess your wrongs to the Lord and He will gladly forgive you of every single one. Do not feel guilt or shame, but rather, depend upon the everlasting grace of our Abba in Heaven.
