They Story Behind The Zoological Wildlife Foundation

The Zoological Wildlife Foundation was founded in 2000 by Mario and Maria Tabraue, a Cuban-American couple who met and fell in love over their shared passion for animals. Mario has more than 20 years of experience working with animals, and he and Maria brought their passion into a foundation that is dedicated to educating the public about rare and endangered animal species in captivity and in the wild.

Today, ZWF is accredited by the Zoological Association of America, and considered one of the top zoos in the U.S., alongside the San Diego Zoo and the Bronx Zoo. (Rated by Trip Advisor)

Throughout the year, the Zoological Wildlife Foundation hosts many events to raise awareness. We strive to educate people about conservation, education and preservation of exotic wildlife.

ZWF is a self-funded organization, so these events, combined with our tours, help us provide for our animals. Adoptions can also be made to support the maintenance of a particular animal.
