How I Groom My Gypsy Vanner Horse ft. Phoenix

I’m cleaning Phoenix boy. Every other week I will shampoo his mane. Between shampy’s I will reset his braids just with dry brushing. Keeping his hair in braids as opposed to the picturesque regal billowing mane look helps him stay cool and prevents his hair from snagging. I have to use 3 hair ties per braid because this Texas heat will fry the rubber up in less than a week.

Pretty boy usually gets really into the brushing and falls asleep while I do his braids. Although sometimes he surprises me and needs a little talking to beforehand lol. Classic pony attitude!

All in all, cleaning Phoenix’s mane like this takes a little over an hour. He gets a nice little walk around and grazing afterwards for being such a good boy!
