What is Phonetics?
(study of Speech sounds)
It is derived from Greek word Phone means sound or voice. It is science of speech sounds and their production.
Phonetics is the study of the physical properties of human speech, such as how basic sounds are physically produced, their acoustics, and how they are perceived.


Branches of Speech Sounds
1. Articulatory Phonetics:
it is concerned with the articulation of speech. The position, shape and movement of articulators or speech organs, such as the lips, tongue and vocal folds.
2. Acoustic Phonetics:
it deals with the transmission of speech sounds through the air.
3. Auditory Phonetics:
deals with how speech sounds are perceived by the listener.

Moreover, phonetics deals with the articulatory and acoustics properties and speech sounds, how they are produced and how they are perceived.
