1963 Corvette Grand Sport : From Banned to Brilliant

The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Chassis 003, is a rare gem—one of only five ever built. This car, shown in its 1964 Sebring configuration, stands as a testament to engineering ambition and a pivotal chapter in Corvette’s racing legacy. From its origins in the post-WWII boom to its dominance at the Nassau Speedweeks, this Grand Sport is much more than a car; it’s a symbol of what could have been if Corvette had full factory racing support.

Designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the Grand Sport pushed the boundaries of performance with lightweight construction, advanced engineering, and a fierce competitive spirit. Despite the AMA racing ban, this car found its way to the track and proved its potential by beating some of the best from Ferrari and Shelby.
