100 Years ago today, President Warren G. Harding, born in Blooming Grove, Ohio, declared the first National Hospital Day on May 12, 1921 to celebrate the end of the Spanish Flu pandemic. That same year, four Army Veterans founded the Cleveland Clinic. 100 years later, the Clinic has grown to be Ohio’s largest employer and today the more than one thousand veterans employed there continue to use the lessons of teamwork, organization and trauma treatment they learned on the battlefield to lead the world in advanced patient care. Here is their story.
