Crow Cam: Work Life Balance

Описание к видео Crow Cam: Work Life Balance

Plum and Momo and two of their screamin' babes. I think/hope they still have three. One might have been off playing.

I've been focusing on work/life balance lately, which, as an independent contractor, can be a challenging thing. The balance is important, working enough to make good money but not so much that you forget what day it is (you know it's bad when you don't know it's Monday, which happened to me last week, oy). But we contractors never know when we're gonna get hit by a slow spell (and they always arrive unannounced), so sometimes you gotta push it a little.

Because I love nature and being one with it, I compare my current overworked situation with people that choose to live in the bush. They don't think about a work/life balance. Life is work. Work is life, survival. Same goes for crows. Plum and Momo aren't thinking about how they need to get a sitter for the kids next Friday so they can have date nite before they go deaf. Momo's not picking up extra shifts at the earthworm mine so that the family can go to Six Crows Magic Mountain in September. What I'm saying amidst my rambling excuse for writing is that when I forget it's Monday and I know I have to keep forgetting for the next couple weeks, I try to separate myself from the work/life dichotomy and just think of it as life. Of course, it helps that I have crows to see me off every morning. And it helps that I love my day job. But it's still a job.

Work/life balance? Yes. Super important. But if it gets imbalanced, look to the crows for an alternate perspective to get you through.
