Before PETA found him—and gave him proper food, medicine, and love (as well as a bath and a haircut!)—Larry was locked alone in a dilapidated backyard wire-mesh hutch, hidden behind piles of junk. His fur was matted with filth, and he suffered from hookworms, life-threatening anemia, and infections in his ears, eyes, and foot. He barely had the strength to wag his tail, and when PETA took him to a veterinarian, she expressed shock that he was still alive.

Larry the tiny shih tzu shares the story of his dramatic rescue, relaxing in the arms of his new guardian: a PETA staff member who showers him with the affection he never had.
