The VIFM’s CFM physician, Dr Janine Rowse will be featured on Australian Crime Stories, The Investigators, Wednesday night, November 12th at 8:45pm on Channel Nine.

Episode 6: Uncovering Evil, highlights the collaborative work involved between the VIFM and Victoria Police in their quest to apprehend dangerous sexual predators.

Ep 6: Short Synopsis:

Uncovering Evil takes viewers inside the harrowing investigation that exposed one of Victoria's most dangerous predators. It began with a single call from a young woman in a Melbourne hospital, fearing her boss, Xiaodong “Frank” Hu, had drugged and assaulted her. Detective Acting Sergeant Laurie Shanahan of SOCIT recognized Hu’s name from a past case, soon uncovering years of abuse. As an immigration agent, Hu preyed on vulnerable international students, luring them with job offers before drugging and assaulting them. Meticulous detective work linked him to seven victims between 2016 and 2019. With mounting evidence, Hu was arrested and sentenced to 29 years in 2023. Uncovering Evil highlights the dedication of Detective Shanahan and his team as they painstakingly pieced together the evidence to bring justice to the victims and stop a predator who had been operating with calculated cruelty for many years.
