This one’s for Faye. Heatwave Killah is taken from my fourth album, The Broken Lifts Mixtape, which as the title suggests was actually a mixtape due to the fact that not all of the beats were original. It was released on November 14, 2009. I remember burning out the CD’s by hand and drawing the logo and titles on them individually with a permanent marker. My friend Diana took the pictures for the front cover and booklet on the stairs of my mums block, where the lift was indeed broken. After that “we take the stairs” became a bit of a slogan for me. We never had an easy ride to the top, but we get there in the end. We take the fucking stairs.

I miss all my friends and family that are gone. I believe there’s a bit more to this existence than life, and if I’m wrong who cares, I’ll never know anyway 😂
