Blockchain Verification through Proof Of Work


Satoshi Nakomoto probably realized that identity can be easily forged online. So he believed that the Proof of Work concensus is probably the best way a qualified identity can be firmly verified to good extent.
In this short explainer video, I discuss on the details and importance of Blockchain’s Proof of Work and its ability of Lowering Verification Costs.

Bitcoin uses the idea of Proof of Work in order to make creating identities in distributed consensus expensive. Because people have to do a small amount of work on their computers, they can't just create identities out of nowhere. And so they can't create votes or verification work out of nowhere to vote on different versions of the data ledger. Proof of Work uses a construction in cryptography called a hash function.
