I love this game and this is my favorite boss in the series with my second favorite class.

And I love this build I came up with. Athena MELTS ShadowTrap and his near raid boss status health pool. I almost want to say better than even Nisha but I haven't put much time into her.

I'll only discuss the key elements to the build/fight.

The trick here is mostly to just keep your Maelstrom stacks up during opportune times which this fight, especially the second phase, gives you plenty of.

Athena benefits highly from perfectly parted, shock, Practicable prefix Hyperion shotguns. The fire rate, accuracy, and tight spread of multiple pellets with shock element gives her extremely quick access to absurd stacks of Maelstrom. The effects are VERY clearly demonstrated in this video.

The Company Man is the best gun for this build due to it's incredibly high magazine size taking full advantage of Elemental Barrage, Gathering Tempest, and several other skills in her Ceraunic Storm skill tree. It also circumvents the only weakness shotgun build Athena has to deal with in low magazine size. So it can fire reliably through the duration of Storm Weaving for huge chunks of health and still have gas in the tank for any clean up before the next cycle.

I switch to the ThunderFire for accurate kills of the Swarmers to proc Unrelenting for the bonus swap speed and fire rate. Shields up for every cycle obviously to block damage and get any emergency kills in the event you go down.

Longbow Stormfronts are without question the best grenade mod for not only this fight, but Athena period. The Longbow prefix is imperative as it's the only way the grenade can even reach him to really get those 600-800 stacks on EOS.

This build is very devastating and much more involved than most Borderlands classes which makes raiding in this game fun for me (what few raids it has...)
