#07 two days in the countryside: slow bike touring, Sandbostel Camp Memorial

Chapter 07 -

I recently took on a photography job in a small town called Selsingen, about two hours from where I live. I've decided that whenever I have work in the countryside, I'll stay for a day or two to slow life down a bit, as long as I don't have any commitments the following days.

The place I stayed was cozy, and the host was incredibly friendly. Besides wandering around the town, I visited several attractions, including the Elisabeth Windmill (Windmühle Elisabeth), Oste Café, the Sandbostel Camp Memorial, and the Huvenhoopsmoor Moor Educational Trail (Moorlehrpfad Huvenhoopsmoor).

Visiting such memorials always leaves me with a heavy heart, but I'm grateful that these sites are preserved so we can learn from the past.

Unfortunately, Oste Café was closed, and I had been looking forward to enjoying some nice food and coffee there. Instead, I returned to my accommodation and prepared a simple meal with ingredients from a nearby supermarket, as there wasn’t a full kitchen available.

On the day of my return, it rained with strong winds. I took a 20-kilometer bike ride to the nearest town with a direct bus back home, grabbed a coffee, and then hopped on the bus back to my city.
