On the cementary in Holsterhausen there are over 306 men buried who died during WW2. Hardly anyone is older than 30 years old. Despite the young ordinary soldiers there are also 6 men from the "10. SS- Panzer Division "Frundsberger"."
This Division "Frundsberger" of the SS fought at the Western and and the Eastern front. The division could defeat the allied troops in the "Operation Market Garden". The German famous writer Gunther Grass, who won the nobel price for literature, admitted that he was a member of the "Frundsberger"- SS.
Despite that there are also desateurs burried on the graveyard. In a bombing in 1944 the local prison was destroyed. In the prison were over 50 desateurs who were convicted by the German army court in Utrecht. The locals tried to help the convicts out of the fire after the bombing. Unfortunately the Waffen-SS was sourrounding the prinson , they took everybody and excecuted them...
