Here Crystal Concentrics' own Kyle Russell engages his neighbor Steve (at the 22nd St. Tucson Gem Show) in a conversation about Dinosaur Bone, specifically "Gembone" vs. Specimen Bone, the former having prettier colors, and lending itself not only as a collection piece, but also for jewelry (due to its relative beauty). The best material comes from Utah & Colorado, although New Mexico, Montana, and now Argentina have produced some of the material.



Similarly to Petrified Wood, the Dinosaur Bone has been replaced with Chalcedony (Quartz), Jasper, and Calcite (the least desirable type). Only 5 guys are really carrying it in quantity at the entire Tucson show (and he's one of 'em) - it dates mostly from the 50's till the 90's - when there was a crackdown disallowing its collection from BLM (Bureau of Land Management) or public lands. Prices have at least doubled in the past 5 years, and it's unclear as to whether they'll ever plateau, as there's a growing interest in it.
