Hi Guys, today I want to show you how to create earrings with gallery wire. I will touch on basics of soldering such as what flux and solder to use, how to create little balls as embellishment and how create a frame and fit your stone.

Materials:

Most uncoated metals are suitable:
Silver, copper, brass, gold etc..
I have used sterling silver.

1.3 mm (16 ga) sterling silver wire
0.8 mm (20 ga) sterling silver wire
4 mm bezel cups
4 mm round, flatback cabochons

Tools:
Wire cutters
Fine tipped round nose pliers
Bail making pliers (optional)
Chain nose pliers
Butane torch (kitchen torch is okay)
Fire brick/charcoal block
Soldering pick/tweezers
Third hand tool (optional)
Hard/medium/easy solder
Flux (borax cone is okay)
Pickle solution (I use salt & vinegar)

And bare copper square wire.

Gallery wire. (Length depends
on your size of stone)
1 mm (18 ga) square wire
2 x pear cabochon
Scrap wire for the balls


Tools:
Wire cutters
Round nose pliers
Bail making pliers (optional)
Chain nose pliers
Butane torch (kitchen torch is okay)
Fire brick/charcoal block
Soldering pick/tweezers
Third hand tool (optional)
Hard/medium/easy solder
Flux (borax cone is okay)
Pickle solution (I use salt & vinegar)
Jeweller's files
Polishing materials
