If you need to connect fine tippet to a fly that is beyond the hook divided by three for the correct tippet sizing range I have a simple trick I discovered that just seems to work for me so here it is. Do a six turn improved clinch knot and after you improve it, take the second loop and twist it back onto itself in figure 8 and run the tippet through the top opening you have created essentially double improving the knot. I don't know what this knot is called and forgive me if it already exists but I'm calling it Brophy's double improved clinch knot because I like sticking my last name on things HAHAHAHA!!! Anyways! Try it out! It will save you many flies that are inappropriately sized for the tiny tippet you are using! Happy fourth of July everyone! I met some awesome guys down on the river today and truth be told, those Trout worked us over for the vast majority of the time but thankfully the Brophy's Minnow saved the day for me again, after throwing dry flies to highly educated Trout for a couple hours that were just not exactly the right size and getting 1 take that never stuck, I had to switch it up with Kelly Gallop's rod jerk retrieve to get the reaction strike.
