Ninon ! - Dajos Béla (1933)

Jan Kiepura's great hit "Ninon" from "Ein Lied für Dich / My Song for you/ Tout pour l'amour" is performed here in a very danceable version by the popular Dajos Béla (1897-1978) and his orchestra. The song was composed by Walter Jurmann and Bronislaw Kaper with lyrics by Fritz Rotter and Ernst Marischka and recorded by Jan Kiepura not only in German, French but also in Polish, his mother tongue (See Jurek46pink Channel for the French and Polish versions).

This record is a French Odeon release using the songs's full title "Ninon, quand tu me souris" (Ninon when you smile at me).

The video is a collection of images of some of Jan Kiepura's leading ladies throughout his movie career. This list is by no means complete (some English and French actresses are missing as is Gladys Swarthout). You will see : Brigitte Helm, Magda Schneider, Jenny Jugo, Danielle Darrieux, Lien Deyers and of course Jan Kiepura's wife, Hungarian soprano Marta Eggerth.

The record is in a pretty sorry state and was found in a stack of records at the flea market. Despite the many pops,clicks, and a massive rumble (which is part of the recording or may be an electrical hum) it is a great interpretation of this classic Kiepura song and the music is still very clear...
