A SCAN BIOMETRY | Principles, contact and immersion biometry |

Описание к видео A SCAN BIOMETRY | Principles, contact and immersion biometry |

IN this video we talk in detail about A scan biometry. Biometry can be divided into two types based on whether sound waves are used (ULTRASOUND BIOMETRY) or light energy is used (OPTICAL biometry). In this video we shall focus on ultrasound biometry. Ultrasound biometry is of two types; Contact biometry and Non contact/immersion biometry.

In contact biometry, the probe is in direct contact with the cornea. Although good at experienced hands it can lead to compression of the cornea leasing to false biometry values . Non contact/immersion biometer uses a prager shell/ scleral shell filled up with saline on the eye. The probe is immersed into it and placed 5-8mm away from the cornea. This prevents compression of the eye ball, making immersion biometer more reliable.

The ultrasound biometer works on the principle of PEIZOELECTRICITY.
We shall also discuss about the various problems encountered while doping a biometry and how to tackle them
