Or WAS it luck? I bought tickets in two different sections to increase my chances of catching a baseball. WHY?? Because Detroit Tigers legend Lou Whitaker finally had his uniform number retired, and there were commemorative balls with special logos.

There was also a huge pre-game ceremony with other Tigers superstars including Hall of Famers Jack Morris and Alan Trammell. Of course Miguel Cabrera was there too (and in the starting lineup!), and the Tigers ended up crushing All-Star Game starter Shane McClanahan and the Tampa Bay Rays. In fact, the score was so lopsided at the end of the game that 3rd baseman Yu Chang pitched an inning. (It did not go well for him, but it was fun to watch.)

The most bizarre event of the day took place before I even entered the stadium: I got a baseball out on the street! So maybe I was indeed lucky after all.

Shoutout to my friend (and future 1st-round draft pick) David Lally for appearing in the video. Remember his name and show him some love on Instagram: @davidlallyjr
