Jessica Hische is an award-winning lettering artist and author. Her clients include Wes Anderson, Penguin Books, The New York Times, and The USPS, which has just released the fourth stamp featuring her artwork: the 2017 Love Stamp created in collaboration with Louise Fili. Jessica talks about recent work, struggling to stay small in a city focused on scale, and how sometimes the only excuse you need to make art is the "selfish" pursuit of happiness. The Letterform Lecture Series is part of the Type@Cooper West certificate program and a partnership with the Cooper Union, the Letterform Archive, and the Book Arts & Special Collections Center at the San Francisco Public Library. Book Arts & Special Collections is home to the Grabhorn Collection on the History of Printing and the Harrison Collection of Calligraphy and Lettering.
