Ephesians 1:15-23 – Sermon notes
What are we praying for in current circumstances?
Protection? Health? A cure?
Paul is in prison (or under house arrest) and he tells the Ephesians what he has been praying for them.

He has heard about their faith and their love and continually gives thanks for them as he prays.

He has 2 prayer reports for them.
1) He has been “asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
The Holy Spirit is given to us so that we may know God better.

2) He asks that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
3 things for us to know…
The hope to which we have been called
o A sure and certain hope
The riches of God’s glorious inheritance in the saints
o Verse 5 and verse 11, “every spiritual blessing” in the heavenly realms in Christ
God’s incomparably great power for us who believe
o WSC 4 - ‘God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.’
o Seen in Christ’s resurrection and exaltation
o The head of our church is the victor and supreme over all things
